Blow out the candles girlie!

I would like to wish the oh so gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor an amazing 77th birthday! Seventy seven years ago today Elizabeth was born in Hampstead, a more wealthy part of London. Not too long after the beginning of World War 2, Taylor and family moved back to the States, which is where her parents were originaly from. When she was seven years old she was mention in an editorial about her mother, and that's when the producer of Gone With The Wind found her. Apparently not all the parts had been assigned, and little Elizabeth Taylor would have been the perfect Bonnie Blue, daughter of Scarlett O'Hara, and Rhett Butler. Sadly this idea was over almost as soon as it began, the seven year old girl's father would not allow her to get into the acting business so young. If you have not seen this movie, i greatly recommend it, it makes for a good day to stay in bed. Funny how at the age of seven, the little girl's father would not let her be little Bonnie Blue, but only two years later Elizabeth appeared in her first film, There's One Born Every Minute. I've yet to see this, but I'll be sure to put it on my list. Throughout the years our birthday girl has been made well known for numerous reasons, the following are just a few, amazing acting skills, beauty, and many, many marriages.

I am a very committed wife. And I should be committed too - for being married so many times -Elizabeth Taylor

I suppose when they reach a certain age some men are afraid to grow up. It seems the older the men get, the younger their new wives get. -Elizabeth Taylor

Dia de la Bandera '09 baby

Just in case you aren't super cool, and spent today celebrating Mexican Flag Day, like you should have been, here's a quick update. In 1937 the President of Mexico,General Lazaro Cardenas(F.Y.I), decided that the Mexicans needed another reason to party, and thus Flag Day was created. So, every February 24th since '37 they'll round up and celebrate, this includes radio broadcasts, television commercials, and gathering up in front of the monument to General don Vicente Guerrero. Huzzah! The flag currently representing Mexico was altered in 1968, although the main design has been used since 1821. The the three colours of the flag represent...

  • Red- Union
  • White - Religion
  • Green - Independence

Well, after that pointless rant about the Mexican flag, i figured i should at least put a little something about Mexican fashion here. These two black and white ensembles were designed by the Mexican designer Jorge Castellanos(George with a 'J'?How could i have not read of this guy??). They were part of the Spring/Summer 2008 collection during Mexico Fashion week. Ironically the Spring/Summer show took place during fall, specifically, this photo was taken October 25, 2007.

Now, onto this amazing bathing suit, with an amazing model to match. There are a few things about this image that won me over. First of all, the fact that she looks like she actually has eaten in the past month, unlike the typical North American models. Regularly on the runway we see models looking like pretzels in bathing suits, this girl actually looks real, definitely makes me want to wear something like that this beach season. Plus, her A-mazing smile! Its genuine, much more pleasing to look at than what's usually done on the runway, the frozen stone stare. Ick. Lastly, the ginormous ring on her right hand, even though it really has nothing to do with her bathing suit, and it slightly blurred, i think it just completes the suit.

Well... adiĆ³s mis amigos.

Zebras are truly just dressed up horses.

A token to art class, which is amazing.I'm going to try and do a copy of this...but make the stripes bright purple, after my current pastel...thing. Also once i'm finished whatever it is we start tomorrow, some sort of 'printing' thing.

Little White Dress

I truly miss the winter season, even though its still only February, and extremely cold, and i hate it, i do miss the snow. Its so pretty and white.I know that that is probably the most pathetic description ever, but honestly, how else can you describe it? Cold? Yesterday i spent the day snowboarding with three friends(So four of us together), and had the time of my life. Woken up at 4:30am, left and arrived at the arena around 5am, left the arena on the Wilson's bus for about 5 hours, arriving at Mt. Washington at about 8:30 am. At 3:15pm we head back down. Some how, after spending about 6 hours snowboarding, and having about 5 hours sleep, we were wired. Although, two of us did bruise our tale bones, and one got a concussion, and the last of us is covered in bruises i heard. It was a group thing planned out by the arena and apparently there is another one on March 5, so we are possibly going on that trip also.

Honestly, is there anything wrong with a nice white dress? Besides the obvious fact that it is impossible to keep clean, i don't believe there is. There's a certain elegance, that i don't think is possible with a coloured dress.

Also, yesterday morning as we were arriving at the mountain(8am-ish) I texted my mum, saying how awesome it was that i was going snowboarding, and she responded with
"Tams having her baby!" I actually laughed at this, while I was about it have the best day ever, my aunt was having possible the worst, at least at the moment it was i'm sure. So, congratulations aunt Tam for your beautiful, i'm sure, baby boy!

I know that this post is completely mixed up with categories, but i'm tres bored, and well, things just keep coming to mind. Yesterday was also mine and Tia's four month... and i'm quite proud of this so i figured i'd say so.

(These pics are about two months old, and basically the only pictures where i dont look completely horrible.)

Alright, last little segment here, Edward, my little barely 1 year old Yorkie pupp just came back from the spa(that's right, we send all our animals to the spa, including the cat), and he looking simply adorable! Considering he just got back about 5 minutes ago, i don't have a picture yet, but i will try to get one by the end of the night.

twirl her 'round and 'round, lets just hope she wont hit the ground.

The navy blue (gap) coat with a white belt that i was able to hoard for $1.00.

Yesterday i did my first Salvation Army run in hopes of a good find, and quite frankly, i was quite proud. I got white...blazer?Yes, i'd say thats what i could call it, and a navy blue vintage/fashion/mod coat. It was $12.29, new with tags from the Gap!!! So...i guess you couldn't really call it vintage, but c'mon! A new with tags Gap coat, originally $70.00(OMFG), for $13, what-ta a deal right? Although, i did get this cute vintage black dress with white polka dots for like...$6. I have the before picture, but i don't exactly have the after picture, partly because i haven't made it an 'after' yet. In my defence i'm still waiting for my mannequin to get here, it was my birthday present...which was in the beginning of January...damn eBay. These are definitely two of my new favourite coats, also so excited to see what i can do with the dress once hemmed.

Amazed with this blazer, its a wee bit small buttoned up, but it looks darling just like this.

About me, take 1.

So... i'm probably doing this all wrong. I'm probably supposed to start out with some "about me" stuff... so i suppose i'll do that. My name's Shaelee, this is my third blog on blog spot, the other 2 are privatized unless your specific people... well person. This has become my newest obsession, hopefully this will last longer than most of the others. I don't really know much about myself, being barely 15 and all... but alls well, i'll try this out. I prefer chocolate covered raisins to chocolate covered peanuts. I don't like the crunch. I don't really like people...Kay i really hate most people actually, but i can't stand being alone. A bit of an oxymoron there. I like to quote random people that i've never heard of in order to sound some what intelligent. Wearing glasses also helps. Deep down i'm a vintage girl at heart... well on the outside i'm a vintage girl too, at the moment at least. I change my style quite often, not to fit in, just cus i get bored of the previous fashion i had. That kinda happens when you move every 2 years because your mother gets bored of home sweet home, so you go find a new one. I like designing clothes, but i'm a bit of a klutz, and i tend to break sewing needles when using a sewing machine, but i manage.

Yesterday our troubles seemed so far away, I believe in yesterday.-The Beatles (Obviously i know who the Beatles are, if you don't, stfu....and go Google them.Like, now.)

I dressed her up and sent her to the beach.

This is a note to bathing suit season, which isn't now, which sucks.
Its cold, and rainy, but we still buy our suits 6 months early.
I've always loved how 30's suits fit a girl's curves. Simply gorgeous!

Even Coca-Cola couldn't help but use a 30's beach girl in the time.

Sorry to down the mood just a wee bit, but...
" The leading cause of death among fashion models is falling through street grates.”
"There is a breed of fashion models who weigh no more than an abridged dictionary."
-Dave Barry

Sorry to temporarily blind you there, i mean, c'mon! Feel sorry for that girl, she must be having fun. Some one give her a burger or something. She only needs to gain about... 50 pounds or so, so i do believe she could use the calories. The quotes were the reason the whole beach thing. So, as a bit of a warning, in your battle throughout the rest of winter and spring to lose an extra pound or so for beach season, don't over do it.
But, know who are having fun in the sun though? The boys surrounded by ladies in these to photos, lets note how alike they look shall we?

A quick note to the early 1920's beach season. Here we have a "beach police" measuring the distance between the knee, and bathing suit. Tres Depressant. There had to be at least a 6inch measurement between the woman's knee, and the lowest part of her suit. This illustration is in Washington D.C 1922.

Well....au revoir!

Today is a new day.
